Tarka dhal
200g Red Lentils
1tsp turmeric
1tsp ground coriander
1tbsp crushed garlic
1tbsp crushed ginger
1tsp salt
1onion chopped
1 Tomato chopped
1or2 chopped green chilli
For the Tarka
2tbsp ghee
1tsp cumin seeds
1tsp mustard seeds
1/2tsp fennel seeds
2dry red chillies
1clove garlic sliced thinly
Little bit of sliced onion
Few fresh Curry leaves
Half tsp garam masala.
Method
Wash Lentils till water runs clear,put in pan with water and bring to boil.
Add in chopped onion,tomato,chilli,ginger and garlic pastes,turmeric, salt,and ground coriander, cook till Lentils tender about 20 to 30 mins red lentils cook quickly.
Then in small pan heat ghee and add cumin,mustard and fennel seeds ,dry chillies, curry leaves onion and garlic fry till onions and garlic brown do not burn add garam masala give it a swirl and pour over dhal .add some chopped coriander and mix together.
